Friday Things

1. After taking a long break from Stitch Fix (referral link), I’ve decided to give it a shot again. Jordan and I are attending a wedding in September, and I thought it’d be a fun way to try on some new dresses. I’m excited to see what I get!

2. My long summer work days are coming to a close. Some days, this summer feels very long, and other days, it feels like it’s flying. I’m ready to have a little more balance in my life again — I’ll be able to dedicate more time to blogging, which will be nice!

3.  This summer, my main form of exercise has been walking. It’s been a nice break from high impact activities, but I’m ready to up the intensity. I’m starting a new workout program on Monday, and I’m excited to see the results! I’ll be talking about it more next week.

4. Iced coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts is better than iced coffee from Starbucks. Agree?

5. My friend Sarah, a fellow Indianapolis-area blogger, had her twins! The babies are adorable — I’m so excited for her and her husband!

6. I don’t have much else to say, other than have a good weekend!

Friday Things

1. I’m pretty sure that I had a slight case of food poisoning yesterday. I had a beef taco at a Mexican restaurant on Wednesday, and I can’t even remember the last time that I had beef. Maybe that had something to do with it? Who knows, but let’s just say it’s not fun when your stomach starts churning at work. And… it still hurts this morning. I hope this isn’t the beginning stages of the flu.

2. Tabata Burn kicks my butt every time. By 6:00 last night, every muscle in my body was aching. It’s amazing how 30 minutes can make such a big impact. If you don’t have a Tabata class located near you, Gina has some good at-home Tabata workouts on her blog!

3. I’m terrible at hiding my feelings. Jordan and I looked at a house on Wednesday, a house that I thought we’d seriously consider buying. Unfortunately, I didn’t like it. At all. I couldn’t even fake an “It’s okay,” to the realtor who was showing us the house. I may have even said that “the house smells like animals.” As it turns out, the owners have never owned pets (so they say). Oops.

4. Can I just say how happy I am that leggings are back in style? They were one of my most favorite things to wear in the 90s. I got the comfiest (yet somehow still stylish) pair from Victoria’s Secret for Christmas, and yesterday I paired them with a long sweater and boots and pulled it off as a “business casual” look for work. I’ve seen other teachers do it too, so I’m pretty sure that it’s okay :).

5. It sounds like a lot of you are morning exercisers! I can’t say that I’ve switched over to the dark side just yet. The majority of my favorite classes are only offered in the evenings, so that’s why I usually go after work!

6. I’m so ready for the weekend. TGIF.

Friday Things

1. I’m kind of in love with our Christmas card display.  I wasn’t sure that we’d get many cards this year, but clearly, I was wrong.

2. We finally got some snow! Real, stick to the ground, snow. Because of it, I have a two hour delay today. It’s going to make my last day of work (before break) feel especially weird, but I’ll take it!

3. I’ve been really bad at making dinner lately. You know, dinner that doesn’t consist of leftover pizza or “whatever we can find.” I hope to change this over Christmas break, when I can get my meal planning back on track.

4. Last night, Jordan and I had the perfect “Christmasy” evening. All of the Christmas lights on, a candle lit, gingerbread tea (for me), hot chocolate (for him), and ‘Christmas Vacation’ on TV. As fast as Christmas is coming up, it was nice to appreciate this time of year in the middle of the work week.

5. Remember how I had a cookie baking party with my friends at the beginning of the month? Well, tonight I’m going over to my parents’ house to decorate cookies for the second time, with my mom and sisters. It’s our annual tradition, and the snow outside makes the occasion even better :).

6. Jordan’s first reaction to his 12 Days of Christmas gifts was, “I didn’t get you anything,” but I think he’s enjoying it now :). Here’s what I given him so far:

        * One video game

        * Two pairs of Spider-Man socks

        * Three undershirts

        * Four bottles of root beer

        * Five pairs of underwear

        * Six ounces of chocolate

        * Seven text messages with reasons why I love him

        * Eight cans of Coke

As you can see, nothing is too over the top, but it’s fun to give him something everyday! And, he’ll still get gifts under the tree on Christmas morning (that was another one of his concerns :)).

7. I feel like all I’ve talked about since Thanksgiving is Christmas, so I’m going to have to get creative with my posts come New Year’s. I just love this time of year so much!

8. If this is your last day of work before Christmas, enjoy it — and have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Things

1. I want to know how some of you turn blog friends into real life friends. You know, the kind you email and Skype, and hang out with in real life. Because I always think, “Oh look, I’m making a “blend,” and then I realize that it might be a figment of my imagination. Do you just start emailing each other one day? Do you bond over something personal? Seriously, I’m intrigued :).

2. I finished my Christmas cards yesterday. Later today, they will be on their way to their destinations. I’m kind of sad that we probably won’t get many this year because we’re living on our own, in an apartment that almost no one has the address to. I’ll have to go to my parents’ to see all of the cute kid pictures.

3. How cute are these glasses? I saw them in Pier 1 yesterday and immediately messaged my cousin to show her the cuteness. Fortunately, I had some self-control and left them on the shelf. Maybe they’ll go on sale after Christmas ;)?

4. This post from Clare makes me feel like I’m “normal.” Normal, because I’ve had five different jobs in 2012 alone, even if one of them only lasted for three days. I’m still not exactly sure ‘what I want to be when I grow up,’ and it makes me feel better knowing that I’m not alone.

5. I’ve decided to get crafty this Christmas. I won’t reveal what I’m making until the gifts have all been opened, but let’s just say that it involves a lot of Mod Podge and a little patience.

6. It’s supposed to snow on Monday! I’m keeping my fingers crossed, because last Monday it was 70 degrees outside and felt more like Easter than Christmas.

7. Have a great weekend!

Friday Things

1. Yesterday, I got called to sub at the very last minute. In fact, I was still in a deep sleep when I got the call, so it took me a while to register what the person on the other end of the phone was telling me (hopefully I made sense — I don’t even remember!). With 30 minutes to get up, get ready, and get out the door, I didn’t have time to eat breakfast, let alone make my lunch. Thankfully, I learned that my husband goes into Superman mode while I’m freaking out. When I rushed to the bathroom to take a shower, he rushed to the kitchen to make my lunch. Teamwork :).

2. Besides for Monday’s walk, this week has pretty much been a no workout week. I might’ve ran shin pain-free during my race, but my shins have hurt everyday since. I haven’t really been in the mood to workout either, so I’m just kind of going with it. A little time off is good every once in a while, don’t ya think?

3. I made dinner for my sisters and my sisters boyfriend last night, and they brought me these.

So pretty. I should have them over more often ;).

4. It’s November, and Christmas has already exploded everywhere. I don’t remember it being so big, so early last year? I love Christmas, but I love Thanksgiving too, and I’m trying to enjoy my last few two weeks of fall festivities. Two weeks!! After Thanksgiving, it might as well be winter. I will be putting “snow” above our cabinets and wrapping our railing in garland. Until then, I’ll embrace the leaves and avoid Kohl’s (don’t get sucked in — you’ll want to buy everything).

5. Speaking of Christmas, this weekend, I’m going to the Christmas Gift & Hobby Show, where I will most likely buy Christmas decorations… while I’m thinking about Thanksgiving. I’m a hypocrite.

6. Last night, I dreamt that I was here. You can imagine my disappointment when I woke up to my alarm and it was time to get ready for work.

7. TGIF!

Have a great weekend!
