1. RSVP. Especially if it’s a wedding invitation, but even if it’s a dinner invitation. The longer you prolong it, the worse you will make it.
2. Don’t feel the need to apologize all of the time. If a lady bumps into you with her shopping cart, it’s not your fault. If you believe in something others might not agree with, it’s your choice. If you eat a big bowl of ice cream, so be it.
3. Immerse yourself in a hobby (or a few) that you’re passionate about. You’ll need this outlet when life gets stressful.
4. Friends will come and go — let them. Interests change, geographic locations change, priorities change. Hold onto to the ones who believe in you through it all, and let the other ones go.
5. Parents are usually right. As much as you don’t want to admit it.
6. It’s okay to ask for help.
7. Little kids and old people give the best advice. Usually, brutally honest and concise.
8. Watch Friends. When you’re feeling down, it’s the very best medicine.
9. Do things that you’re afraid of. You’ll regret it if you don’t.
10. Drink a lot of water. Your body will thank you.
11. Support young entrepreneurs. Lemonade stands, bake sales, Girl Scouts. Giving a few dollars to support their cause is the least that you can do.
12. There will never be a “perfect” time.
13. Read a lot of books.
14. Wear sunscreen.
15. Learn about other religions and cultures. You might not always agree with everything, but it doesn’t hurt to learn.
16. Send thank you notes. Promptly.
17. Clean home = happy home. Clean your house regularly and make your bed in the morning. It does wonders for mental sanity.
18. Wear makeup. Not too much. How you look on the outside can affect how you feel on the inside.
19. Don’t rush marriage. Or starting a family. People rarely say, “I wish I would’ve done that sooner.”
20. High school drama never goes away. It’s in the workplace, it’s in personal relationships. It’s ridiculous. Be the bigger the person.
21. Invest in a great pair of running shoes. And don’t be afraid to compromise style for comfort. You’ll be thankful for it later.
22. Attend local events. Try new things. Meet new people. You won’t truly appreciate your city until you do.
23. Cherish date nights. Try a new restaurant. Go bowling. Catch up at a cute coffee house. When life gets busy, these keep the relationship alive.
24. Exercise regularly. “I don’t have enough time” is just an excuse.
25. Acknowledge your feelings. Be sad, be mad, be excited, be grateful.
