Valentine’s Day Celebrations

As I mentioned last week, our Valentine’s Day celebration began on Thursday. We exchanged gifts, ordered a heart-shaped pizza from Papa Murphy’s (take and bake pizza), and ate it while watching ‘Bridesmaids.’

We continued the fun on Saturday, with a date night. Jordan planned it, so I had no idea what we were doing, other than it involved dinner. We ended up at Rock Bottom, the restaurant where we had our first date over four years ago!

We started out with drinks and an appetizer — the same appetizer we shared on our first date :) — and for my main meal, I had the veggie tacos.

After dinner, Jordan kept looking at the time on his phone. I guess we finished eating earlier than he thought we would, because he said that our next plans wouldn’t work out unless we wanted to wait around or go home first. As it turns out, he’d been planning to take me see ‘Safe Haven’! Unfortunately, Jordan’s stomach started to bother him after dinner, and we decided to call it an early night.

Since we didn’t get to see the movie on Saturday, we decided to see a matinee on Sunday. Much more our style, actually, as both of us fell asleep at 9:30 on Saturday night, and the movie we originally wanted to see on Saturday didn’t start until 9:00. I know, I know, how old are we ;) ? The movie was good, but I recommend reading the book before or after you see it — it leaves out so much, as many movies do!

The highlight of our weekend? Finding a house that we really, really like. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we’re moving in the right direction :) .

I have today off for President’s Day, so I’m going to enjoy a lazy morning before I clean and go grocery shopping! If you have today off, enjoy it!

What’d you do over the weekend?

Have you read ‘Safe Haven’?

  1. I love the heart shaped pizza! I wanted to go see safe haven on Saturday but my roommate and I opted for a night in instead. Yay for finding a house that you really like :)

  2. a heart shaped pizza? now that is sweet!

  3. Papa Murphy’s pizza is SO good!! And I am pretty sure that the fact that it was heart-shaped probably made it taste 10 times better, right? ;)

  4. I read Safe Haven and really loved it, but I don’t plan on seeing the movie until it’s either on Netflix or cheap to rent–I just never like the way those movies turn out! Did you read or see the movie Dear John? I loved that book but thought the movie was awful haha That’s just my opinion though…I’m hoping Nicholas Sparks comes out with another book soon!

No, I never saw it because I heard that it was horrible! I didn’t like The Lucky One when I saw it, but I thought that this one had better acting (it just left a bunch of the details out — I had to explain a lot to Jordan!).

Those are such my style too. I hate watching movies at night (and really have the attention span of a knat so watching movies are hard for me anyways). Glad you guys had such a good Valentine’s Day though!

  6. Happy first Valentine’s Day as a married couple! It looks like you had a wonderful weekend!

  7. Aww what a great Valentine’s Day!! We didn’t get to do too much to celebrate, because I flew down to Florida on Thursday night. But last week, Brandon surprised me with chocolate covered strawberries “just because.” So that more than made up for it! ;)

  8. That heart shaped za is too cute! I’m glad you guys had a happy Valentine’s day and were able to drag it out until Sunday! By the way, you are so right about the book/movie thing….books are always better.

  9. Your hair looks awesome in that photo!! And those tacos look delicious.

  10. I read and loved the book but am waiting tell the movie comes out to redbox. The notebook is one of the only Sparks books turned movie that I actually like. The heart shaped pizza is too cute!

  11. I just keep staring at the pretzels and cheese. OMG.

Maybe it was a really good thing that your V-day got spread over several days! :)

  12. That heart shaped pizza looks so good :) I love that you guys watched Bridesmaids! Marty and I were quoting it all weekend (I just watched it last week too) Looks like you had a great Valentine’s celebration!

Also, I have not read Safe Haven. My sister told me to read it too. I’m going to see the movie on Sunday with my sister-in-law and Marty’s grandma so it doesn’t look like I’ll have time to read it before then but I’ll add it to my list. The books are – typically – better than the movies! :)

They are! I think it’d actually be fun to read it after you see the movie, because it’ll help you understand everything a lot better!
