Friday Things

1. We have another two-hour delay today. I think this is the third or fourth one that we’ve had in the five weeks that I’ve been at my new job? It’s getting a little ridiculous — it’s nice to sleep in and lounge around in the morning, but I don’t get paid for the two hours that we’re not at school.

2. I’m really glad that it’s Friday. This week went by particularly slow, and I’m just excited for a weekend spent with family. We’re celebrating my dad’s birthday tomorrow, and hanging out with Jordan’s family on Sunday for the Super Bowl!

3. Is it weird that we’re so attached to our families? I don’t go a week without going over to my parents’ house, and Jordan works with his family everyday and doesn’t get tired of them. We may or may not have separation anxiety ;) .

4. I did a quick kickboxing video (found on Bright House On Demand) before I left for work yesterday, and oh my gosh, I am SO sore today. It was a circuit workout consisting of cardio kickboxing and kettlebell exercises, and let me tell you, I worked muscles I didn’t even know that I had! I don’t actually own a kettlebell, so I just used free weights, but I might need to invest in one now!

5. This video is the cutest. If you don’t already have baby fever, this might just do it.

6. I made Jordan my favorite white chicken chili last night. I met a friend for dinner, so I didn’t get a chance to eat it, but there are plenty of leftovers to pack in my lunch today. It’s nice to have a good lunch to look forward to, don’t ya think?

7. Our home search on! We’ve decided to go the house hunting route rather than building. Last night, Jordan showed me the coolest house online — it was built in 1906 and the architecture is amazing. Unfortunately, it’s on a busy road and looks like it could be haunted… but for some reason, I still want to go through it!

8. What is up with this Brian guy in the new episodes of “The Office”? The show was getting good, but now it’s getting weird.

9. Okay, time to get ready for work so I can get to the weekend :) . Have a great day!

What are your plans for the weekend?

 Do you own a home?

YAY house hunting!! Have fun and remember to look past the ugly! And also to invite your cousin over sometime : ) I’m sure you’ll find a great house! And no, it’s not weird that you see your family all the time, that’s a good thing! And can I have some of your chili?? It looks fab!

Thanks for the link, and sweet words about my little nugget.

When I was teaching and we had 2 hour delays, we had to be there on time ANYWAY. Such a crock. But it did give us time to get stuff done in the morning.

Also, family is everything. It always makes me happy when people realize how awesome their own family is. I’m totally okay with separation anxiety. :-)

  3. If you ask me, it is completely okay to be attached to your family :) My parents live 5 minutes away from us, and I absolutely love it!! We are having people over for the Super Bowl this weekend, so I will be prepping for that this weekend! Happy Friday!

I’m the same way right now with the two hour delays…I love them don’t get me wrong but I don’t get paid either and I can’t go to the gym (obviously if there is a delay the roads are unsafe) so therefore I’m kinda just stuck at home doing absolutely nothing.

  5. Omg that little girl is too adorable! Have fun house hunting!

  6. I can relate to your attachment to your family. Leaving home has definitely been one of the hardest things I’ve had to experience in my marriage (thus far.) It is so strange to go from seeing your parents every day to only 1-2x/week. They play such an important role in my life still and I always look forward to seeing them at family dinner on Sunday nights. :) Hope you have a great weekend!

  7. I love kickboxing but can’t take classes, I should check out some online ones, I never even thought of that

Hey Emily…I don’t think I’ve ever commented before, but I really like your blog! Just wanted to say no I don’t think being attached to your family is weird. You are lucky you get to see them often. I live in China right now, so I only get to see my parents about 2 times a year. Living here is mostly great, but it’s hard sometimes not seeing them!

Thank you for commenting! I know, I am fortunate to live near them. I bet it is really cool to live in China, but that would be very hard!

  9. I dont live near my family, but I do talk to my mom multiple times every day! I have just entered and started training for my first half marathon! My weekend plans include a long run, grad school work and watching the super bowl!

  10. We own our condo but would like to move into a house within the next 3 years. It’s going to be a process, that’s for sure1

  11. I’m with Matt.. I’m jealous of your delays too!! It is such a blessing to be close to family… I’m 5 hrs away from mine!! I miss them like crazy!
