Marvelous Monday

The weekend went by way too quickly, as usual, but it was good one — the perfect mix of relaxation and busyness. Lots of marvelous things to talk about!

On Friday night, I had a great night out with Jordan, Molly, Hilary, and Hilary’s boyfriend. Though our experience at the restaurant is nothing to rave about, we had a great time catching up with each other.

On Saturday, my friend found her wedding dress! It’s kind of a long story, but my cousin actually bought two dresses when she was getting married (she changed her mind), and the one that she didn’t wear was just sitting in her parents’ house. When my friend got engaged, I told her about the dress, and she liked it! I picked it up two weekends ago when we were in Michigan, and she tried it on yesterday and said “yes!” It’s really pretty, and she got it for a great price.

Also on Saturday…

I signed up for my second half marathon! I will be running the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon in May! And guess is doing it with me? My husband, of course! And Molly, and her friend. Our whole group will be back together again for another race :) . It’s a huge race, so it’ll be different from my first half marathon experience, but I spectated last year after running the 5k, and it’s such a fun event because the whole city is so supportive.

On Sunday, Jordan and I ate at Panera after church. Panera is always marvelous :) .

After eating at Panera, I went home and made brownies for my dad as an early birthday/”thank you for working on Jordan’s car” present. I brought them to our usual Sunday night dinner, and they were enjoyed by all :) . His actual birthday is today — Happy Birthday Dad, I love you!!

While the brownies cooled, Jordan and I decided to go to our apartment gym to get in some cardio. I went with the plan that I was going to walk on the treadmill, but I decided to see how my legs would do if I tried running — it’d been a full month. I ended up walking two miles and running one, and my legs felt pretty good! I still had a little pain in my knee, so I stopped when it hurt, but I think I’ll be able to start up again pretty soon!

All in all, it was a marvelous weekend. Now…back to reality :) .

How was your weekend?

How do you usually spend your Sunday?

  1. It looks like you had an amazing weekend! I think I could go for a brownie right now-yes, at 7 o’clock in the morning ;)

Great weekend you had with friends, brownies, and a marathon register! Congrats ont hat, you will do well, I know it!

    Happy week ahead! <3

  3. Brownies are one of my favorite desserts (besides ice cream!) Those look soo good :) It sounds like you had a really nice weekend. Good luck with your training for the half marathon. I need to sign up for another one. I’m thinking the Columbus Half Marathon again (there are two – one in the spring and the other in the fall.) I want to sign up sooner than later but I’m afraid it’ll be too hot to run at the end of May? We’ll see…

As for my Sunday’s: church, workout, errands, downtime and then my parents house for Sunday dinner. It’s pretty much the same routine every Sunday!

I know, the heat worries me too. We can never know how hot or cold it will be in May! Sounds like a good Sunday to me!

  4. Looks like a great weekend! My next half marathon is in May, too. I’m taking February to do a mix of more “fun” workouts and then starting my training plan in March….For your shoes–if they hurt your knees I’d say that’s your answer right there: they’re no good! Really though, if you haven’t tried Brooks Running yet, do! They’re the best and they might still be having a big sale on them too.

    • Emily says:

I have Brooks Adrenalines, but the running store sold me to them in the wrong size (seriously, I got professionally fitted). I might try a different pair, in the right size this time!

I love to see you signed up for another race. I think this will be a whole different experience because the crowd will be so supportive and PLUS so many people doing it. Sounds exciting to me and I can’t wait to see how your training goes!

  6. ya for signing up for that race, it is always nice to have a race on your agenda for the upcoming year

  7. So awesome that you convinced Jordan to sign up for the half with you! I think getting people to run races with me is almost as fun as running the race itself haha.

  8. Sundays for me lately have consisted of yoga, church, food prepping for the week (while my hubby cleans) and relaxing time on the couch! I love it!
