During my first five months of marriage, I had it easy. I went from a part-time job to a job where I could pick and choose when I wanted to work, and during that time, I almost always chose to take one day a week off to go grocery shopping, pay the bills, and get the laundry done. It was a luxury — if I was on the outside looking in, I probably would’ve rolled my eyes at myself. I can’t roll my eyes at myself anymore, though, because those days are over. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had full-time jobs in the past and functioned perfectly fine, but I forgot how hard it is to get back into a routine! Three weeks into my job, I finally feel like I’m getting the hang of it. Here’s what a typical Tuesday looks like for me, with a little WIAW mixed in.

6:15 a.m. My alarm goes off. I push snooze once I wake up and start getting ready.
6:45 a.m. In-between doing my makeup and my hair, I take a break to eat breakfast. I grab something quick, but it’s not very filling. Good thing my lunch break is super early.
Special K Chocolatey Strawberry cereal
7:15 a.m. I finish doing my hair, pack my lunch, gather my things for the day, and leave for work.
8:00 a.m. I arrive at work and head straight to a meeting. After my meeting, I do some lesson planning before I begin working with students.
9:35 a.m. Time for math with several groups of students.
10:20 a.m. Lunch time. Yes, my lunch break is ridiculously early. Sometimes I do my lesson planning during this time and eat later in the day, but on this day, I was hungry enough to eat. I catch up on emails and set up my afternoon activities during this time, as well.
Black bean and cheese quesadilla (I promise it tastes better than it looks)
10:55 a.m. Lunch duty. During this time, I cut open ketchup packets, hand out sporks and napkins, and open juice boxes. Fun stuff
.
11:30 a.m. Teach, teach, teach.
1:00 p.m. This is my first prep period. Sometimes I try to scarf down lunch during this time since my lunch break is so early, but I also use the time to plan, brainstorm with other teachers, and check my emails again.
1:15 p.m. Teach, teach, discipline, teach.
2:30 p.m. This is my second prep period. I plan and get materials ready during this time. I usually eat my snack at this time, as well.
2:45 p.m. Teach, teach, and teach some more.
3:40 p.m. Pickup duty. End of the day chaos ensues
.
4:00 pm Time to leave! Sometimes I’ll stay after to get ahead on planning, but on this day, I was all caught up!
4:15 p.m. Grocery shopping trip. I’m one of those weirdos people who has a designated grocery shopping day. I look forward to it! I also look forward to treating myself to Starbucks
.
Tall Nonfat Vanilla Spice Latte
5:00 p.m. Put groceries away, pay bills, fold laundry. I’d normally go to the gym during this time, but I was still sore from Monday’s class and decided to take a rest day.
6:00 p.m. Make dinner, eat dinner, clean kitchen.
Spinach, bacon, Laughing Cow Cheese, and an egg on a whole grain English muffin, with apple slices on the side
7:30 p.m. Laundry. Blog. Laundry. Blog. Laundry. (5 loads in total. Winter layers make me hate laundry day. Yes, I have a laundry day too.)
9:00 p.m. Watch my favorite Tuesday night shows (New Girl and Happy Endings), eat a bedtime snack.
Chobani Bite with Grape-Nuts
10:30 p.m. Bedtime!
And…repeat.
I’m still getting used to this routine. I need to find a way to eat small, well-balanced meals (with more veggies) throughout the day, but the combination of an early lunch and a busy day makes it difficult. I’m working on it, and it can only get better!
Is my routine similar to your daily routine?
What are your favorite Tuesday night shows?

That’s really interesting. I love seeing how working (and actual real life people LOL) bloggers day to day life. Mine is somewhat similar-I work from 8-4. It was a hard adjustment from college though-I’ll tell you that much!
Yum! I <3 quesadillas!
Your work day starts a little earlier than mine. I work 9-6 and do my grocery shopping on Saturday or Sunday. But it sounds to me like you have a good routine going! Are you an elementary school teacher?
I’m an intervention teacher for first grade, so I work with small groups throughout the day.
Was that latte good?
I’m still adjusting to a new work schedule too! I forgot how little time I have in the evenings now! I get home close to 7 most nights, eat dinner, relax a bit, then go to bed early!
What’s the spice in the vanilla spice latte? Is that new?
Yes, it’s new! I think it’s cinnamon, cardamon, and other spices that I’m not sure of. It tastes like a wintery/Christmasy drink. I liked it a lot!
happy endings is the best end to a tuesday night!
I graduated in May and so miss my schedule where i had a morning class, then a break, another class, break, etc. Working 7:30-4:30 M-F is such a drag. My apartment is currently a DISASTER. Going to make designated days to do laundry (that way I’ll avoid doing 5-6 loads every couple weeks…) and tidy up like you do! Today is the day
Oh, I know, I miss that schedule too!
My routine is pretty similar, except I get a full lunch. I liked this post, I may steal your idea for my WIAW next week!
wait wait wait, Chobani Bite?? Did I miss something? Is that new?!?! Holyyyy smokes I need to get my hands on that ASAP!
It is new! It’s yummy! I found it at Target.
Parenthood is definitely my favorite Tuesday night show! If you heard me dishing out recaps, you would think I was talking about my own family
My routine is pretty similar. Except I probably have about 5 extra snacks thrown into my schedule haha.
Of course, that might have something to do with the fact that I’m 28 weeks pregnant!
If you treat yourself to some Starbucks everyday, then our schedules are definitely pretty similar. I look forward to my afternoon cappuccino every day – I swear that it’s what gets me through the morning sometimes!
I have been wanting to try those new Chobani Bites! Looks so good!
