Friday Things

1. Last night, I sat through three hours of ‘The Hobbit,’ and I didn’t even fall asleep. Wife of the Year award should go to me ;) .

2. Remember that blizzard that we had on Wednesday? Yeah, well, it only resulted in about four inches of snow. The weather people talked it up so much, and our whole town closed down, so of course I believed that we’d be getting 15 inches, as predicted. Not so much.

3. I am almost finished with this book. The only reason that I am not, is because I keep making myself stop reading so it’ll last longer! It’s a good one!

4. This year, we are having people over to our apartment for New Year’s Eve. We used to have everyone over when I still lived at home, and we decided to carry on the tradition here. Now I just need to go get the ingredients for these mushrooms, and this sangria, my main contributions to the party!

5. I refuse to take down our Christmas stuff until after New Year’s. It made me sad to see people posting pictures of boxed up ornaments on the day after Christmas!

6. For the first time in my life, last night I said “no,” in person, when someone invited me to do something that I didn’t feel like doing. Just an honest “no,” no beating around the bush. And then I felt guilty for saying “no.” Why??

7. I’ve forgotten how much I enjoy kickboxing as a workout. Earlier this week, when I was stuck inside because of the snow, and the gym was closed because of the snow, I decided to check out my free fitness video options on On Demand. Surprisingly, there are a lot of good ones on there, including a kickboxing one that will be my new go-to when I want to do cardio, but don’t feel like leaving the house! In fact, it’s on my agenda this morning :) .

8. One reason I love being on break is because I can watch ‘Boy Meets World’ and ‘Full House’ when they are on during the day. I want to buy all of the DVDs so my future kids can watch them someday — they don’t make shows like this anymore!

9. Have a wonderful weekend!

What were your favorite shows to watch as a kid?

Do you have any New Year’s Eve plans?

  1. Haha, my brother in law was like “we should all see the Hobbit together!” and Andy immediately responded with “Laura’s not going to go for that.” Major props to you for going!

To say that I love Full House would be an understatement. Stephanie and Kimmy were always my favorites!

For NYE, we’re going to a party at a friend’s house!

Haha, this was actually the second time that Jordan saw it, and when I asked him if I was going to like it, he just said, “no.” We went with friends, so I was just trying to make other people happy. Next time (because there are still TWO more of these three hour movies), I will say no!

  2. I always feel guilty or feel like I have to explain why whenever I say no to someone!

Love Boy Meets World reruns, I can’t wait to see the new spinoff. :)

  3. I also have a hard time saying no when it comes to plans. I’m getting better at it, but I still feel the need to have an excuse beyond “I just don’t want to” if I do say it!

I used to LOVE Full House. So much so that some people used to call me “Full House girl” when I was younger. :) I wanted to be just like Stephanie.

  4. When I was home, Boy Meets World was on my agenda every single morning. They seriously don’t make TV shows like they used to! I feel the same way, I want to buy all the seasons and play them for my kids because the shows these days don’t compare!

  5. I hate feeling like I have to explain myself when I dont want to do something. I am also at the point now where I just don’t beat around the bush. I just state my reasoning and thats that (in a nice way). Makes me actually feel less guilty knowing I didn’t lead them to believe I was going to be there or do whatever it is that they wanted…so they know what to expect.

I loved Full House and Boy Meets World. I actually caught an episode of Boy Meets World a couple of days ago.

New Years Eve will be spent at home hanging out with the husband. :)

Hi! Just found your blog through a comment at Peace Love & Oats :)

Good for you for saying no! It makes me feel bad too, but not as bad as doing stuff I don’t want to do… and being annoyed with it ;)

Your NYE sounds fun! I think we are going to have a quiet night at home, which is just what I need right now! :)

I feel like I am constantly saying that they don’t make shows/movies like they used to! I watched Home Alone the other day and it was like a trip down memory lane! And congrats on saying no-I am trying to make more of effort to do the things that I want to do rather than the things that I feel like I should do because of others’ thoughts, etc. Have a great weekend!

  8. ah boy meets world and full house, such a throwback. sounds like you have some fun plans this holiday season with friends. I am glad you said no, that is so tough.

  9. Full House was easily my favorite show growing up. I also loved Boy Meets World and 7th Heaven :)
Kickboxing is one of my absolute favorite workouts–it’s fun and effective at the same time.

  10. Does this mean that your husband is going to see Les Mis with you? :) I can’t convince my husband to go see it, but I think a girlfriend and I will go soon!

I just requested that pioneer woman book from the library, thanks for the recommendation!

We’re totally keeping the Christmas decorations up for as long as possible! It feels so festive to have them up and it makes the holidays last just a bit longer. We even have some unwrapped presents left under the tree – Malia would get so distracted after opening one present – she would just want to play with that one and not even open the rest!

I hope you guys love those stuffed mushrooms! :) That sangria sounds delicious too! Hope you have a wonderful NYE party, Emily!
