Friday Things

1. Yesterday, I got called to sub at the very last minute. In fact, I was still in a deep sleep when I got the call, so it took me a while to register what the person on the other end of the phone was telling me (hopefully I made sense — I don’t even remember!). With 30 minutes to get up, get ready, and get out the door, I didn’t have time to eat breakfast, let alone make my lunch. Thankfully, I learned that my husband goes into Superman mode while I’m freaking out. When I rushed to the bathroom to take a shower, he rushed to the kitchen to make my lunch. Teamwork :).

2. Besides for Monday’s walk, this week has pretty much been a no workout week. I might’ve ran shin pain-free during my race, but my shins have hurt everyday since. I haven’t really been in the mood to workout either, so I’m just kind of going with it. A little time off is good every once in a while, don’t ya think?

3. I made dinner for my sisters and my sisters boyfriend last night, and they brought me these.

So pretty. I should have them over more often ;).

4. It’s November, and Christmas has already exploded everywhere. I don’t remember it being so big, so early last year? I love Christmas, but I love Thanksgiving too, and I’m trying to enjoy my last few two weeks of fall festivities. Two weeks!! After Thanksgiving, it might as well be winter. I will be putting “snow” above our cabinets and wrapping our railing in garland. Until then, I’ll embrace the leaves and avoid Kohl’s (don’t get sucked in — you’ll want to buy everything).

5. Speaking of Christmas, this weekend, I’m going to the Christmas Gift & Hobby Show, where I will most likely buy Christmas decorations… while I’m thinking about Thanksgiving. I’m a hypocrite.

6. Last night, I dreamt that I was here. You can imagine my disappointment when I woke up to my alarm and it was time to get ready for work.

7. TGIF!

Have a great weekend!

  1. The cut in that sandwich just makes me smile :)
Sorry your shins are hurting again, but at least they were good for the race last weekend? I haven’t worked out much this week either–not as much as I’d like to anyway– but some weeks are just like that! Usually when I have weeks like that where I either don’t get to workout often or I don’t feel like it, it’s followed by an awesome week of workouts.

  2. I’m working through some knee issues that sound very much like your shin problems in the way that I’ll rest it, it’ll be fine through my run, fine after, and then flare again later. The good news (and I hope this happens for you too!!) is that the after-flare is getting shorter and less painful every time now that I’ve learned to help it heal. Fingers crossed, and I’m sorry that you’re in pain, but you’re right — rest is best sometimes!!
Those are BEAUTIFUL flowers. Heck, I’ll cook for them — do you want to send them up my way?! 😉
The beginning of the Christmas season is WAY early this year, I find. Our Thanksgiving is in early October, but the big Christmas do-up’s don’t usually start here until closer to your Thanksgiving — after Rememberance Day on the 11th, for sure. I think that early celebrations almost dilute the spirit a little — you’re almost not ready to celebrate yet and you get a little sick of it by the 20th of December or so. That being said, I’m super excited for Christmas, maybe I’m just not ready to confront the fact that I need to start shopping soon? haha.

  3. OH girl, I totally understand about that. Props to you though for getting out of bed and going to sub. I don’t deal well with being sponatenous so I would have layed there in bed and probably gone back to sleep. I love Christmas and started celebrating Dec 26th of last year. 😉

  4. Sorry about the shin pain… I think you’re right to listen to your body & take some time off working out. I think when you’re hurting too much, best to rest it. 😉

Too bad about not really being on Mackinac Island… I believe I was there when I was little & it was really neat. Now that I’m living back in WI I really need to get there again… hmmm… thanks for the idea! :)

  5. That’s so sweet that Jordan made your breakfast :) How nice of him!

I really want to decorate for Christmas too. We still have pumpkins put up around our house (the only fall decorating on my part, I really need too change that next year :( ) but I am considering a tree sooner than later.

Hope you’re having a great weekend Emily!
