After the ceremony, we took pictures at the church, then drove over to the reception site, arriving just as cocktail hour was ending. After a quick conversation with the DJ, he lined us up and began the wedding party introductions.
Once we were seated at the head table, everyone was told to turn to the stage, where a slideshow (of Jordan and I through the years) was played. My sister put it together for us as a wedding gift, and the day of my wedding was the first time I watched it. Needless to say, I cried
.
After the slideshow, my uncle said a prayer, and then it was time to eat dinner!
We went with a buffet, and I was a big fan of the food, and of our caterer. We had bread, salad, veggies, two types of potatoes, and fish, beef and chicken. Something for everyone! I filled up my plate first and sat down and enjoyed the entire meal (note to future brides – it is possible
).
After dinner, we did the traditional toasts. Since both of my sisters were maids of honor, Molly decided that she would do one toast for the two of them, and Jordan’s brother did one as best man. They made us laugh; they made us cry
. My dad also did a toast, and the DJ said it was one of the best father of the bride speeches that he’s ever heard — so, good job dad!
After the toasts, Jordan and I cut the cake. Our guests had cupcakes, but we still wanted a small cake for the two of us to cut. My cousin made the adorable cake topper — it looks like us!
After eating cake and mingling, we danced for the first time as husband and wife to The Beach Boys’ ‘God Only Knows.’
And we everyone had a good laugh because sometimes Jordan doesn’t know his right foot from his left, and for a few seconds, we were swaying in different directions (I still love him anyway
).
After our first dance, it was my turn to dance with my dad.
This is where I went into the ugly cry. I don’t know why I thought I might be able to get through this song without shedding a tear. When we watched our wedding video, I noticed that a lot of our guests were crying during this song too. It’s a tearjerker!
Jordan’s dance with his mom (to this song) was a little more lighthearted, but Jordan told me later that he and his mom were trying to distract themselves with laughs so that they wouldn’t cry.
After the songs ended and we wiped away our tears, it was time for everyone to dance the night away. The night was not over yet
.
To be continued…

I had never heard that Steven Curtis Chapman song and totally just lost it watching the music video. So sweet!!
Love this and glad you were able to enjoy your food. (I’m sure it would be stressful moving around to see everyone!). Your wedding dress is absolutely stunning!
I’ve never heard the Steven Curtis Chapman song either, it’s such a tear jerker
I love hearing all these recaps and details, makes me so excited!
The cake topper is so cute, I love how even the dress is matched to yours!
I just love your dress! And the cake topper! How fun is that?!
Thank you!
I’m loving these recaps! The songs you chose for everything are beautiful. I don’t know how I’m going to keep myself from bawling when I dance to I loved her first with my dad. He chose it for us and just even thinking about it makes me want to cry.
My cousin danced to that song with her dad! It is hard to hold the tears back!
I love hearing that you got to actually eat your dinner!! Besides a good breakfast (thank goodness for that), I hardly ate anything all day, which is SO unlike me anyway. I was just either a little nervous, too excited, or just plain distracted! When it came to dinner, people kept coming up to talk to us, and I was so focused on trying to look around and soak it all in as much as possible I didn’t eat much of anything…Luckily, Jesse had our hotel room decorated for after the reception and we ate a bunch there haha
Love the recaps
Aw, that’s nice! We had a fairly small wedding (100 people), so I think that’s probably why it was easier for me to eat. I never got to enjoy a cupcake though, and everyone kept talking about how good they were!
