Let’s Reflect

One of the reasons I love having a blog is because I can document all of the important, and sometimes not-so-important, events in my life. Yesterday, I was washing dishes in the kitchen, reflecting on the past year of my life (sometimes you get sentimental when you’re home alone all day), and when I was done, I decided to take a peek into my life, one year ago. What exactly was I up to in the fall of 2011?

As it turns out, I….

- Was unhappy in my job, and I kind of liked to whine about it (sorry about that!).

- Was still a single lady with no ring on my finger, but I had just celebrated the wedding of my friends. And a little before that, my cousins’.

- Was struggling with anxiety

- Was still obsessed with pumpkin

- Wrote my first WIAW post

- Attended my first food truck festival

It’s crazy to see how much has changed, yet how much has stayed the same. I no longer have a job that I hate and I am no longer a single lady, but I am still struggling with anxiety, obsessed with pumpkin, and writing WIAW posts :) . It’ll be interesting to see how life is different one year from now!

What were you doing one year ago?

  1. One year ago I was relapsing, incredibly unhappy (but repressed my emotions), quiet and lonely, and barely two weeks into starting my new job.
Now, I feel able and experienced (but a little jaded sometimes) at work. I’m a die-hard optimist, who is generally incredibly happy (but I let myself feel the sadness funk too). I’m in very strong recovery and challenging new foods every day (cereal is back, baby!!), and I’ve started blogging which has opened me up to a whole new world of people, amazing support and friendship, and has led me to be more risky (which is how I met the new guy in my life).
I never, ever would have imagined life could hold this much for me. I’m excited at the prospect of seeing just how much more I can achieve.
Thanks, Em! I really, really needed this this morning! :D

I’m so glad that you are making positive changes and finding happiness in your life! This age and time in life can be very confusing, and I think it helps to have people around you who can relate. You are very welcome, Chelsie!

  2. It really is fun (and interesting) to look back and see how our lives have changed in just one year. We both seem to be at similar points in our lives right now – job changes, newlyweds(ish), dreams and aspirations – it’s difficult to navigate at times but the ride is exciting and luckily God has blessed us with some awesome men to help us along for the ride.

  3. This is the fun thing about having a blog…not only is writing (for me at least) totally therapeutic in a way, but it’s so fun to be able to look back on what I was doing/thinking a year ago. You’ve had some major things change for you!

  4. i agree, I love blogging for that reason as well. you can really see where you have grown.

  5. Omg last year I was suffering with extreme anxiety and didn’t have an engagement ring on my finger either. I’m in such a better place now!

  6. I love looking back and reflecting too! You’ve had a lot of changes this past year! Luckily your love for pumpkin is still going strong! :)

  7. One year ago I was up to my eyeballs in school work and extracurricular work. I was also 10 days away from getting an unexpected job offer from exactly where I wanted to work…which is where I am right now!

  8. So much does change in 1 year! :) It is fun to see how all of our lives change and share it with each other! :)

  9. I just found your blog and I have to say I’m really enjoying it so far!

A year ago today I was just about to move in with my husband, had just finished my first marathon and had just got promoted to a new role at work. It’s amazing how much things have calmed down!!!!
