It’s True

I can’t stand it when people call me “ma’am.”

I want to write a book –  and have it published — someday.

I’m ambidextrous, but I eat and write with my left hand.

I have to eat chocolate every day.

Mackinac  is my favorite vacation spot.

It’s my dream to be a mom — someday.

I’m not an animal person.

I hate the smell of cigarette smoke.

I was born in Michigan, and it still feels like home to me.

In the eight years that I’ve been driving, I’ve only had one car. It’s 18-years-old now, but I’m not ready to let it go.

I don’t have the attention span for movies, but I love watching TV.

I can be brutally honest.

I cry a lot. Sometimes for no reason.

My love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation.

I’m not opposed to traditional gender roles. Jordan has never touched the laundry, cooked dinner, or made the bed. With that being said, he works 60 hours a week, opens doors and kills spiders for me.

I might be stuck in the 1950s (see above).

Mexican food is my favorite.

I’m very intuitive.

Now it’s your turn. Tell me some true statements about you!

Thank you, Colleen, for the post idea!

  1. I honestly feel like I wrote half of these. I hate watching movies and need to be doing other things to make it through them. I like animals but I don’t think I’m a pet person. I likey cat back home but i know I’m never getting a dog.

  2. I love this. And I totally wish I could be more brutally honest. I’m more likely to to kind of … omit saying things sometimes because I’m afraid of hurting people’s feelings. But maybe that’s because I’m afraid of people being brutally honest with me?
I want to write and publish a book someday too. And I really, really want to be able to let myself cry more. I think it would let me feel a bit better … You cry and then the emotion is over and done with and you can move on. I get caught in my emotions/stress a little too much sometimes.
And I’m incredibly jealous of your ambidextrocity …? Ambidextrousness? haha. Whatever the word is that would fit here! :)

I think that’s why I’ve always cried. It’s how I deal with my emotions, and then I can move on. Sometimes I wish that I would handle things differently, but I know it’s probably better just to let it all out.

I have an addictive personality My happy place is in the kitchen.

If you’re stuck in the 1950s, then I am too! We definitely have “gender” roles around here and I am totally fine with it. Plus, I’m a bit of a control freak so it’s just easier if I clean and do the laundry. ;)

  5. I still feel so weird having my students say “yes ma’am” and “no ma’am” to me. I’m twenty-four years old! Geez.

  6. I am the same way with movies! Some captivate me but most I have to be doing something else while watching them.

  7. I wish you lived closer because I think we would be great friends :) I feel like we have so much in common! My love languages are the same, I LOVE Mexican food, I’m not opposed to traditional gender roles either :) Fun little list!

  8. I’m not at all opposed to those traditional gender roles either, if that’s what people want of course! I actually like doing the cooking, shopping, laundry, etc.–now I just have to get my husband to do MORE of the dirty work :) I would absolutely love to be a housewife/stay-at-home mom someday if that’s in the cards. Old-fashioned, yes, but I see nothing wrong with it.

  9. Hilary says:

I have a lot of these in common with you, maybe cause we are sisters:) I am also ambidextrous, but can only write with my right hand.

  10. I feel like we are so similar!

-I hate the being called ma’am too! I know it’s supposed to be considerate but I feel like it makes me sound old. I much prefer miss.

-Writing a book is on my bucket list! Some day!

-I HATE CIGARETTES. ew ew ew

-Being a stay at home mom is my dream job, someday, in like six years. ;p I am definitely not opposed to more traditional gender roles, although Josh is neater than me, steams my clothes, and makes the best dinners. I think I need to step it up in the domestics department. ;p

  11. I’m with you on a lot of those. But I’m personally cool with being called ma’am. And I plan on teaching my children to say “sir” and “ma’am” to all adults! ;)

  12. Love this :)
    1. I am a PUNK ROCKER at heart
    2. I secretly wish I was a gypsy
    3. I am freakishly obsessed with green juices (I could drink them all day long)
    4. I love being a girl: hair extensions, false eyelashes, heels and hot outfits

    Love and Shine CourtStar

  13. I love this post! I love how honest you are and what works for you and makes you happy :)

It’s so fun to learn about people’s love languages. I used to think that everyone would have mine (quality time) but people really do differ on what they need! My fiance’s is words of affirmation – so it’s definitely been a learning curve for me.

  14. Definitely just stole this idea for my post ;)

  15. I can be brutally honest too. I totally love gender roles… I love getting doors opened for me. Luvy still helps me out with laundry, kitchen, or whatever! I just enjoy doing those things though!!
