For the past four years, this little guy and I have been very close.
I got the ENV2 for my 20th birthday, and in our fours year together, we rarely spent time apart. It was my first phone with a full keyboard, and I felt so “cool.”
And then the ENV3 came out. And smartphones, and phones with touch screens — and my little ENV2 was a thing of the past. But, I just couldn’t seem to part with it — why spend all that money on a new phone when my phone was working perfectly fine?
Until about a year ago, that is. It started turning off randomly, the keys started peeling (see image above), and text messages would only send about 50% of the time. Clearly, it was time for me to get a new phone, but I still couldn’t stand to upgrade.
Then last week happened. I missed three phone calls and four text messages over the course of the day because my phone decided to have a huge delay. A couple of the calls were pretty important, so I hit my breaking point.
Two days later, I was on Apple.com (check it out if you’re ready for an upgrade — it’s cheaper than Verizon!). Yesterday, this landed on my doorstep.
My iPhone and iPhone case. I have finally joined the 21st century! Even though it pains me to have to pay $30 a month for a data plan, I think my phone and I will be very happy together.
Oh, and if you’re curious, I did not buy the iPhone 5. Clearly, I’ve never been one to run out and buy the newest gadgets as soon as they come out
. My 4s will be just fine
.
Do you feel the need to buy the newest gadgets?
Do you have an iPhone?

New gadgets frighten me!! I’m incredibly electronically illiterate .. I think that an iPhone is probably in my future, but the thought of it right now is still pretty daunting!
(Love the case though!! It’s probably worth the phone just for the awesomeness that is the cassette case!)
I swear my life changed when I got an iPhone. Is that sad? haha
Haha, no, but I feel like I could easily become addicted to my phone!
This post made me laugh because I currently have the ENV3!! What’s really strange is that I also get delays on texts or missed calls (and it’s been happening more frequently recently). I think it may be time I join the iphone world too…
PS: I almost always read your posts through my reader but today I clicked through to your site and I love the header!
Thank you!!
My mom still has that ENV2.
It took me awhile to jump on the IPhone bandwagon. I’m not that tech-savvy, and I always insisted that I never needed a smartphone. But…it was one of the best decisions I’ve made, seriously. It makes life 100x easier being able to get e-mails and other important things sent to your phone right away! And the Maps app saves my life on a regular basis, no lie. It’s probably my favorite part of the IPhone.
I don’t have an iPhone quite yet, but I’m getting mine on Saturday! I’ve had a Tracfone for six years now, so I’m very, very excited to upgrade to a real phone with a real plan and stop cringing every time someone sends me a two-page text because it costs me .6 minutes to read instead of .3. Cannot wait!
I loooove your case!! So cute! Where did you get it?
I have a super old iPhone (it’s a 3!) and I’m waiting a couple more months until my upgrade. I can get a 4 for free, or a 5 for $200. I’m kind of torn about what to do!!
Enjoy your new phone:)
Thank you! I got it from
I have a droid 2 and am sooo ready for an upgrade. But I need a full keyboard to type and send emails. I’m not sure what to get!
Oh yeah, I was nervous about the touch screen because I really liked my keyboard!
yay for taking the step and getting an iphone it will seriously change your life! I also loveeee your case! so adorable!
I have the iPhone 4 too!! You are going to love it!
I had the EnV2 for the minimum two years and then I upgraded because mine started randomly turning off too. The keyboard on the front also stopped working. I loved that phone until stopped working! I don’t have an iPhone…I can’t bring myself to get one! I have a Droid Incredible, although now that’s outdated too! LOVE your case!
Thank you!
That is how I felt in December. I had had my phone for four years too (through high school and college) and then it stopped working and my parents got me an iphone…I hated it for a while but I like a lot now. I don’t know what I did before it…
Yeah, it’s hard to get used to!
Haha, your little red phone sounds like my old red phone. It was a touch screen but the “touch” feature only worked about half of the time…so I’d have to keep poking the screen a million times to “send” a message. We went out and bought iPhones the day after our wedding and have never looked back!
Awesome! Don’t worry, it took me a loonggggg time to join the 21st century and get my first iPhone too. You’re going to LOVE having everything at your fingertips!
