The night before the wedding, getting a good night’s sleep was difficult. I had those butterflies you get on Christmas Eve, multiplied by about 100
! I slept for about 5 hours, and then I was wide awake. I watched “How I Met Your Mother,” I blogged, and when it was light enough outside, I got up and went for a long walk. It was the perfect start to the day of my wedding! After taking a shower and eating my usual oatmeal, my mom, sisters and I picked up my cousin from the hotel, and then we were off to our hair appointments!
I was the first one in the chair, and the last one out of it. I have a lot of hair; thank goodness my stylist is patient!
After getting our hair done, we had to make a last minute stop at Hobby Lobby. It was quite hilarious, speed walking through a craft store on a Saturday morning in my ‘Bride’ shirt and veil — but we had to do what we had to do
. After that stop, we went back to my parents’ house to do our makeup. Originally, I had asked the photographer to capture those moments, but at the last minute, I decided against it, and I’m happy that I did. It was really nice to spend the last hours before I said “I do” with my sisters, cousin and parents, without feeling rushed. The highlight of that time spent together? My cousin forgot her false eyelashes at home (in Michigan), so my dad offered to go to the store to buy her a new set. My dad is a pretty masculine guy — I can only imagine how overwhelmed he felt in that aisle. The best part is, he actually brought the right thing home! We weren’t so sure that he knew what he was doing in that department
.
Once our hair and makeup was finished, we headed over to the church to meet up with the photographer and rest of the bridal party, have lunch and get dressed. This is when the nerves really started kicking in…and, when it started to rain. Thank goodness everything was indoors!
Once I was dressed, there were only two things left to do — take pictures, and get married!
To be continued…

Haha, that is hilarious that you dad went out and bought the eyelashes–too funny! You look so gorgeous in these! Definitely sporting a wedding day glow!
I know
! Thank you!
You look beautiful! I love your hair with the veil draping down from the back- so pretty. I love reading these recaps! And that is too funny about your dad and the fake eyelashes. My dad would have NEVER been able to pick up the right thing…haha.
Thank you! Haha, he was on the phone with us the entire time. He did a good job!
you and your dress are beautiful! I love that you took a walk before the big day! That is such a good idea. Just you and your thoughts. I must remember to do that the day I get married. To just take a step back.. take it all in… and not be like “ahh i have to get everything done” crazy. Because I know that is how I’m going to be haha.
Yes, remember to do that! I loved having that alone time, and it made the morning so much more peaceful!
It’s all just so beautiful — you, your hair, the dress, the pictures, the moment. Giant sigh of loveliness! Followed by a huge laugh over the thought of your Dad in the eyelash aisle!!
Thank you! Haha, I know. He was on the phone with us the entire time he was in that aisle, and we were laughing the entire time
.
Yay! I love wedding recaps! Sounds like you had a wonderful morning and your dress looks gorgeous! Can’t wait to see more pictures!
Thank you!
I totally forgot about the eyelashes!! Yay for Uncles, they are the best!! You look SO pretty in your pictures!
It was funny
. Thank you!!
Ahhhh so lovely! I love all the detail on your dress — beautiful!
Thanks, Bethany!
before my friends wedding we watched how i met your mother too, the wedding episode of course!
Aw, I love it!
I love these re-caps, the pictures are beautiful! And I love your dress, the detail on the top is so pretty!
Thank you, Katie!
I am so excited for all your wedding recaps! I can’t wait to read more. I absolutely ADORE your dress though, it’s so beautiful!!
So happy for you, and glad that your wedding day went smoothly!
Thank you!!
What a beautiful bride! I’m loving these recaps! Did you wear false eyelashes? I’m so on the fence with them, I love how they look but I’m nervous about glue by my eye on my big day! haha I’ve never used them before!
Thank you, Erin! I did decide to wear them. If you practice a couple of times before your wedding, you’ll get the hang of it! You won’t even feel the glue once they’re on!
Your dress is so gorgeous!
Thank you, Danica!
hahaha your dad buying the eyelashes. I’m sure my dad wouldn’t even know where to find them and if he did, which one to even pick!
