Some type-A people plan for spontaneity. I am one of those people. On Friday night, I came home from work and made Jordan pick pieces of paper out of hats at random. He had no idea what I was up to.
There were three different categories: dinner, activity, dessert. I was going to let fate decide what we would do. Jordan ended up choosing Olive Garden, movie, and Dairy Queen out of the hat. But Jordan wasn’t thrilled with that plan (he did get a kick out of the fact that I included “buy new phones” in the activity section ). And honestly, I didn’t feel like Olive Garden anymore either — I only put that option in there because we have a gift card. So, we ended up at our favorite Mexican restaurant instead. We also decided to skip the movie since we had to be up early to drive to a family reunion. And Dairy Queen? That didn’t happen either. Halfway through dinner, the tornado sirens went off and we ended up scarfing down our food and driving over to my parents’ to take cover in the basement. I guess that’s what happens when you feel the need to plan to be spontaneous .
On Saturday morning, we were up before the sun came up to drive to Michigan for a family reunion/party.
We only went up for the day, which meant a five hour drive there, and a five hour drive back. The whole day was a blur, but it was totally worth it. We got to spend some time with my grandma on my mom’s side, before heading over to my aunt and uncle’s house for the family reunion on my dad’s side.
I got to catch up with this girl and the rest of my family, which was fun .
I spent most of yesterday trying to catch up on stuff around the apartment, but reality is really sinking in today. The good thing is, I have a lot to look forward to this week, including my sister’s birthday celebration, so this week should be fun. Or it will be, right after I finish the laundry…
Have a good Monday!
