Half Marathon Training: Week 4

Monday: 10 Pound Slimdown Yoga

Tuesday: 2 miles

Wednesday: The Core Challenge workout

Thursday: 5 miles Intervals on the ArcTrainer, 45 minutes

Friday: Friday’s Workout (x2)

Saturday: Rest

Sunday: 6 miles 45 minute walk

Though my compression sleeves have been a huge help in the recovery department, it’s best for me to take a break from running (for now). This worries me, because I don’t want to get too far behind in my training, but at the same time, the pain isn’t worth it. I’m going to continue cross training for another week, and see how I feel. If I have to walk/run this race, I will. I’m going to stop being so hard on myself. Yes, I paid my registration fee with hopes of running across that finish line, but even if I have to walk, I will still complete the race, and there should be no shame in that.

  1. I would like to say that I find both your optimism and your dedication to doing what’s best for your body very courageous. It’s something that I struggle with immensely, so the fact that you’re sticking with it is definitely commendable!! That being said, I hope that the rest works wonders, that you mend, and are able to run across that finish line!! :)

You can definitely finish even if you don’t run the miles you feel like you’d like, as long as you cross train and train for duration of time on your feet! Way to keep up your optimism and dedication to working out despite injury. I know it’s tough, so great job! Also- friday’s workout looks INTENSE. wow.

  3. yay for pumpkin being back!

  4. I’m with you on being worried – no running 4 weeks out from my marathon! But hopefully we’ll both recover well. I’ll say an extra prayer for you!

  5. I hope those sleeves continue to help! You poor thing! Ouch! :(

  6. I definitely think you are making the right choice! Pain is NOT worth it.. a little extra time is better then a serious injury that will keep you off your feet for an extended amount of time!

  7. I’m right there with you Emily. I’m still hoping to run across that finish line but, you’re right, there is NO shame in walking across. Just signing up is more than the majority of Americans. :)

  8. Amen. There is nothing worth pain like that. I am actually trying to convince myself of that as well.
