Marvelous in My Monday

We can all use a little positivity on a Monday, don’t ya think? Especially when it’s gloomy and rainy outside, like it is in Indianapolis today. Today I am linking up with Katie for my first ‘Marvelous in My Monday’ post. Check out her blog for all of the details!

My weekend started out a little slow. I felt emotionally drained from the work week, and all I wanted to do was…nothing.

So, Jordan and I sat on the couch, watched ‘Jeopardy’ and ate leftovers (party animals, I know) before it was time to meet up with friends for fro-yo and a movie. We saw “The Campaign,” and it was…blah — I’m not huge fan of Will Ferrell movies to begin with. This one had a lot of truth to it, and some funny parts, but it was so inappropriate. After the movie, we came back and crashed, and I got a full 8 hours of sleep, which was marvelous :) .

On Saturday, I was still in a weird mood, so I thoroughly cleaned our apartment and then rested on the couch. Jordan has been working weekends, but he was kind enough to bring home Chipotle on his way home from work, which made for a very marvelous lunch. After relaxing on the couch all day, we went over to my parents’ house for dinner, and being around my family helped me feel a little less “blah.”

On Sunday, I tackled my 5 mile run!

I was nervous about it since I’d been feeling sore all week, but I pushed through the pain, and finished strong.

After my run, Jordan came home from work, and we spent the afternoon together before it was time for me to get busy in the kitchen; we were having our very first ‘dinner party’! Prior to yesterday, Jordan’s mom and sisters had yet to see our apartment, so we invited his family over for Sunday dinner. I was a little nervous about cooking for 6, rather than 2, but everything turned out great. For the main course, we had Greek Penne and Chicken, and on the side, a simple salad and multi-grain bread.

I didn’t take pictures once everyone arrived, but his sisters went back for seconds, and I took that as a good sign :) .

We finished off the night with dessert. I made Peanut Butter Cup S’mores Pie, and I must say, it was marvelous. I followed this recipe, only I baked it in a 9 inch cake pan, and cut it like I would a pie. We only have two pieces left, so I’d say it was a winner!

After running 5 miles, and spending all day in the kitchen on my feet, I felt exhausted by the time everyone left, but a good kind of exhausted. My sister came over after Jordan’s family left, and we all watched ‘The Great Food Truck Race’ before it was time for bed.

It started off slow, but it turned out to be a marvelous weekend. And with that, I am off to fold some laundry. Back to reality :) .
