I Don’t Even Know What Day It Is

This four day work week is really throwing me off! All day yesterday, I kept thinking that it was Saturday. I’m not exactly sure how work will feel today, but fingers crossed that the kids are excited to be there — if not, it will be an interesting day!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! My day started out fairly early with a Jillian Michaels’ workout. I knew that if I didn’t work out in the morning, I wouldn’t get to it for the rest of the day. After my workout, I got ready and went to the local 4th of July parade with Jordan.

We walked over to the parade at 9:30, and by 10:00 it was already 98 degrees outside. We quickly found a shady spot and tried to stay cool with water, but the heat was so miserable, we couldn’t stay for the whole thing. Around 11:00, we packed up our chairs and walked back to Jordan’s house.

Oh yeah — and there was strawberry shortcake too. Every year, some ladies in the community throw a strawberry festival on the same day as the parade. Jordan didn’t eat breakfast, so he fully enjoyed his strawberries, pound cake and ice cream. And I may have taken a bite or two ;) .

After the parade, Jordan and I packed up his car with more of our wedding shower gifts, and took them over to our apartment. After going up and down the stairs a dozen times, the heat was making us delirious.

Resting at our new kitchen table!

We didn’t stick around our apartment for long before heading back to his house to swim. The rest of the day was spent lounging around the pool, eating a ton of good food, and get a little too much sun. After spending the day by the pool, we went back to my (parent’s) house for dinner, where some our friends joined us. And then we ended the day with a little ice cream.

Because that’s how every holiday should end ;) . Clearly, Jordan ordered the man size.

The only thing that was missing from this year’s celebration was fireworks, but since we haven’t had rain in weeks, we currently have a burn ban, meaning that no open fire is allowed (for fear of burning down the community). Of course, I still heard some rebellious people shooting off fireworks last night when I was in bed. I wonder if they were fined the $2500 that the news people were talking about…

After spending too much time in the heat and sun yesterday, I am off to do the same thing again today. We have a field trip to the water park today — should be fun!

Have a great Thursday!
